A Sculpin hiding in a sponge just off of Sevilla Island

Jacques Cousteau claimed that the Georgia Strait's emerald waters were "second only to the Red Sea in the world".  Rodale's Scuba Diving Magazine has ranked British Columbia as the "Best Overall Dive Site In The World" for three years running.  The area around the Resort offers dozens of dive/snorkelling sites from huge vertical walls, to wrecks over 100ft long, and shallow reefs teaming with marine life.

For those preferring to snorkel, you can either snorkel around Sevilla Island directly from the Resorts private float, or sign up for a snorkelling tour aboard the Island Explorer our 22' tour boat.  A self-guided trip around Sevilla Island provides the opportunity to see over a dozen varieties of sea stars, red and green urchins, anemones, sea cucumbers, crabs, sponges, soft corals, chitons, oysters, mussels and dozens of varieties of fish which are all visible in the top 30ft of water.  We provide transportation to/from Lund, a full 5mm wetsuit, hood, gloves, boots, fins, mask, snorkel and use of the Resort's oceanside hot tub for $75pp. For those looking for a more unique experience guided boat trips to a number of local snorkelling sites are available from $99pp for a two hour trip.  Guests participating in a boat tour are welcome to use the Resorts oceanside hot tub after snorkelling.  Snorkelling at low tide provides the best opportunity to see a wide variety of marine creatures so contact us for tide information about the day you'd like to snorkel.  Advance reservations are required.  Our Snorkeling & Scuba Diving Picture Gallery provides more pictures of some of the species you can expect to see during our tours.

Diving is best in the winter months when visibility is often in excess of 100ft.  In the summer when the water is warmer the algae blooms can dramatically decrease visibility.  The area around the Resorts private float offers shore dives from 40-90 feet with lots of different sea stars, sea cucumbers, anemones, rock scallops and ground fish.  Savary Island offers long sloping sandyThe beautiful Rose Star locate on Sevilla Island beaches and sandy trenches with large beds of eccentric sand dollars, moon snails, shell beds and lots of crabs.  Boat dives enable access to the Iron Mines, a 250ft vertical wall, and the Ragged Islands with several wrecks, wolf eels, octopus and an amazing number of sea stars.   All these dives are within 10 minutes of the Resort.  Okeover Inlet, a 30 minute trip by boat, provides the unique opportunity to dive in an active shellfish farm.  The diving in the area is technical diving and requires wet/dry suits due to the cooler water temperatures.  The visibility, colors and health of the local marine environment makes the effort well worth while.

The Resort's 22' boat is equipped with a rear swim platform and a wide re-entry ladder or we can arrange larger boats with a wider range of facilities.  I am certified PADI Rescue Diver and have done lots of diving in the area, so we would be happy to knowledgeably provide directions, boat charters, tank rentals/refills or arrange certified local Dive Masters thru our partner Alpha Dive, to ensure you enjoy the best dives the area has to offer.  Please see Alpha Dives Site for lot's more information on diving in the area.
